Just finished this one. I had to take a couple of trips to the scanner and uploaded a couple of time. It's that darned white acrylics. It's awful. It goes on white as a wedding gown and fades even after it dries! I hate that! Whatever. I fixed it as well as a spot I needed to edit, so she is ready.

Falconry is the Fairy Queen's favorite sport. She adores her pet and spoils him with bits of tender meat whenever he pleases his mistress. He can barely take his eyes off her as she is not just the source of food and shelter, but the most beautiful radiant creature in this unforgiving terrain.

For centuries the mighty dragon terrorized these lands. Every warrior, knight, and mercenary sent to rid this scourge from their domain was disintegrated by the dragon's terrible fiery breath. Then the dragon would annihilate whatever township, or shire they came from as a lesson to the others.

Finally, the populace decided to appease the invincible beast with tribute. Aside from a seasonal offering of treasure, once a generation, all the maidens of royal blood were summoned by the dragon and he would select the fairest one for his companion.

Thus by great beauty and lavish treasure was the monster's terrible temper sated. The princess is truly in a gilded cage. Her chains are made of jeweled platinum and she is surrounded by the dragon's immense hoard. In one score years, he will free her, if she does not anger him, and she will be replaced by a new prisoner.

The magi align the very fabric of reality into a pattern that suits the Elven kind. Their beautiful queen must sit at her throne and view the powerful colorful spectacle as a matter of protocol. The ageless monarch has seen the annual event hundreds of times so she is quite blase' about the whole affair. To keep from getting bored, she makes sure to have a fine book on hand of her favorite tales of adventure, one of the only luxuries she can afford now that she has so many responsibilities.

I hope you like this one. I sure do. I will make more and post as soon as I can. Much distraction at home. Must blaze a path to keep this project going! ;) Hope to see you back then...

The beautiful Queen of the Mermaids coils comfortably in her coral bed kingdom. She sits with a regal grace as she meets the viewer's gaze. Light flickers down on the warm waters of her aquamarine realm.

This is the last of the mermaid series. Definitely NOT the last mermaid ACEO I will be doing; not even in the short term. I will be doing more mermaids and soon. I will simply be exploring other subjects from now on as well.

Things on the homefront are really full of upheaval, stress, and uncertainty. That was the major reason I haven't posted in a while.

The stag strides confidently through a fragrant and verdant field. The mermaid fairy rides him carrying very fine things in the small chests on either side of her.

I didn't post yesterday because there was a storm here in Los Angeles. It knocked out about half my block from the grid. Power finally came back on early this morning and I finished them up and posted as soon as I could. I hope you like them.

The bobcat makes a nimble mount for the mermaid fairy. Rocks, trees, and other obstacles that she would not be able to traverse even if she did have legs are an effortless jaunt for the furry feline. So strong is are the mermaid fairy's influence over the wild things of this world, that even the bobcat's natural inclination to prey on the fish-tailed beauty is set aside in friendship and loyal service.

The mermaid was very small for her kind and never thought that she would ever meet anyone as diminutive as she. Then she met the little men who were charming and invited her to a seaside banquet. When she tasted their delicious food she fell into a deep slumber. She woke hours later in the state you see her here. She pleads with her captors to take her to the water and set her free. They only assure her she will not be harmed and that she will be offered as a tribute to their king.

This little Lovely looks longingly from her favorite spot underneath an enormous tree. It's roots and the flowery vines and its proximity to a body of water make it the perfect shelter.

Legends abound of mermaids that spell disaster for wayward sailors; Seductive sirens that lead adventurers to their doom. Well, not this lovely beauty. Here the handsome fisherman was cast overboard by rough waters and almost drowned. This mermaid is using her powerful tail to keep his head above water as she finds a remnant of his hapless vessel so that he can float to safety. An allegory of my desire to be rescued from my awful financial situation.

During the holidays, I missed a couple of days there posting. To those that are following this blog, I will try and keep that to a minimum. This is literally supposed to be a daily update of my progress. Also, I will be selecting the best of these works and making them into larger paintings in the coming weeks to be featured in my Daily Painting Blog.

The Zen monks have exquisitely arranged a rock garden for their lovely mermaid patron. Not a single leaf is out of symmetry. Not a single grain of sand is out of place. Even the moss on the rock was carefully pruned to give her a soft place to repose and meditate. The foxes symbolize prosperity and good fortune.

This lovely mermaid has a gift with birds; they naturally trust her. Even though they have never met, the white breasted kingfisher approaches and perches on her hand without the slightest trepidation.

Once revered as gods in their realm, this mermaid and her jaguar protector now stand guard at the portal to the last remnant of this once mighty civilization. The mermaid has adopted the Day of the Dead aspect to honor those long lost; noble princes that sacrificed the greatest warriors of their enemies to her; their shrunken skulls now a decorative warning.

The tiger had not eaten for a week when he caught the scent of carp. When he followed it to the riverbed, he was enchanted by the lyrical homage to Mt Fuji, that a beautiful Geisha mermaid was playing. He rested there with her and found a new and very special friend, instead of a meal.

An Egyptian mermaid adorned with finery embraces her hunting cheetah in the banks of the Nile. He fetches her game she cannot reach on land and she rewards him with delicious fishes. In the distance a pyramid rises majestically over the horizon.

A mermaid of a royal bloodline. Her butterfly fish advisers whispering liquid wisdom and mischief into her ears, as she surveys her coral reef domain. This one is more ornate than the others.

This is my first Christmas themed artwork in this format. A beautiful mermaid gazes transfixed at a music box as she contemplates the concept of legs and listens to a lovely tune. These are proving to be quite fun. I will do my best to post another this evening as well.

Like this one. This is my design for a Sea Sprite. A Sea Horse with butterfly wings. It's a lot of fun to draw these lovely sirens. I will get busy making more after I post here. Though it's late, I'm glad that I am posting every day and today, more than once in the same day.

I will not impose any limits re: subject matter, except maybe porn. For the time being, I will definitely be doing a series of mermaids. I will list the "ACEO = number" in the title regardless. Knowing me, drawing mermaids, although they are a lot of fun and inspiring, will get too dull if that's all I do. I will include more subjects inspired by fantasy, wildlife, and art. I think that I will be making lots and lots of mermaids first though.

Site Launch And What Is An ACEO?

Saturday evening November 14, 2009. I started this project just yesterday, and decided to make a blog for it. All of my works will be for sale via auction on ebay (click here to view the current availabilities).

So what is an ACEO anyway? The acronym stands for Art Cards, Editions, and Originals. They are miniature artworks about the size of playing cards. They are currently all the rage on ebay, etsy, and other places original artworks are offered for sale online.

My goal is to make at least one new ACEO every single day for as long as I can. I hope you follow my progress enjoy my artworks.
